JT10, 12/28/2010

Date:  12/28/2010

Participants: Pete Carlson, Tom Mahood, Patrick McCurdy

General search area:

From the Quail Springs Picnic Area, westerly through a saddle, into the middle of Johnny Lang Canyon, then an exploration of both the east and west slopes of that canyon.

Rationale for searching this area:

Now having images of the initial search map in our hot hands, we were aware of the low level of search coverage in Lang Canyon, and wished to fill in holes in that coverage.  We also wanted to further clear the areas of the easterly canyon slopes that had line of sight coverage from the Serin Drive Verizon cell tower.

Impressions of area and findings:

The canyon slopes were extremely rocky, thus our viewscapes only covered a short distance from our tracks.  However we traveled through the most logical areas someone would travel through.

Coverage level:

Only fair, due to substantial rocks,  I feel we had now covered all reasonable areas on the east slopes of Lang Canyon that had cell phone coverage.

Comments:  None.  A pretty typical trip, not finding much.

GPS mileage submitted for this trip:  18.6 miles

Cumulative GPS mileage submitted to date:  150.6 miles
